A Quiet Place has been making quite the noise in the horror community lately, and seeing as how it had the second-best opening ever for an original horror movie I bet we will be getting a sequel!
Originally there was the talk of it being part of the Cloverfield franchise. But, the plot was too close to 10 Cloverfield Lane and Paramount was fixed on that being an anthology brand. Lucky for us it wasn’t!
In a talk with Fandango, screenwriters Bryan Woods and Scott Beck disclosed that they are not opposed to much more based on A Quiet Place.
Not to spoil anything from the movie, but the ending is rather open.
“It’s such a fun world,” Woods answered, in the affirmative. “There are so many things you could do.”
Seeing that we never learn for certain the origins of the monsters even though there are hints about them coming via meteor from outer space, but that’s not necessarily confirmed. And how many other survivors are out there? Maybe we could see another, a simultaneous story alongside the Abbott family’s?
“Definitely…There are so many discarded set pieces, too, just hiding out on Word documents on our computer,” Beck added. “So, yeah, there are certainly so many stories you could tell. It’s just really, at the end of the day, who are the characters in this and what does this situation mean to that dynamic?”
I do hope that if they do A Quiet Place 2 John Krasinski will be attached to the project in a large capacity. It would be a shame if he were not involved in some way or another. Plus his directorial skills were proven and he showed that he is more than capable of creating something so tense and so captivating.
Could the sequel be a prequel? A story of another family? Could the story take place even further into the future? What do you think? Let us know in the comments below!
There are no answers that we know of to these questions – yet. But I would put money on the fact that we’ll be getting some soon.
